Mahala Football Academy succumbed to a 2-0 defeat on Saturday afternoon to PAC Academy in the 2023 Division Two League Promotional tournament at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports.
The Newbies commenced the encounter on a good path in a 4-1-3-2 formation by dominating play especially in the midfield but were goal shy after creating the first chance of the game in the 13th minute. Isaac Asumadu had the first share at goal but couldn’t threaten PAC Academy goalkeeper.
With low concentration without the ball, we received a shocker in the last quarter of the first half by conceding the opener in the 35th minute from a close range finish. PAC Academy’s attacker pounced on a well taken cross from the right wing to give the Offinso based outfit the lead.
Mahala Academy nearly nearly levelled from defender Osman Salifu’s header, from Isaac Asumadu’s brilliant free-kick piece inside the box. But was denied by his own hands.
PAC Academy then doubled their lead in the stoppage of half time from long-range free-kick shoot to end the first department 2-0.
After recess, we managed to make several goal attempts but failed to utilise all with substitute Kofi Agyemang tormenting PAC Academy backline with his hold up play and pace. Justice Asamoah and Kelvin Asenso all exhibited stupendous performance yet could not net consolation nor draw parity at the famous Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Despite, a better second half display Mahala Football Academy fell with a 2-0 defeat at full time.
The lost means, Mahala Football Academy failed to book qualification to next season’s National Division One League but had a brilliant and enigmatic season.
OFFICIATING NOW WORRISOME
Officiating in this season’s campaign has been very abysmal and directed to some selected teams within the region as qualification for middle league was open.
Many could have strong hope in the center referee who holds the beauty of the game in hand yet they turn to mud it due to poor performance and clear intention to cheat.
Our final game against, PAC Academy was obvious Officiating will be talked about after proceedings at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium as once again, it got abysmal with series of cheating instances.
