Mahala Football Academy could only manage a draw in week 7 fixture of the 2022-23 Ashanti Regional Division Two League with Afigya Barcelona despite brilliant start to the game.
The Academy lads played away to bottom place Afigya Barcelona with game ending in a stalemate.
The visitors were better in the first 10 minutes and made count their scoring prowess with two quick goals.
After three minutes of action, Mahala Football Academy broke the deadlock to set the Armed Forces S.H.S Park ablaze with a magnificent build up play which saw Isaac Asumadu score from striker Kofi Agyemang pass from the right side of our attack.
Four minutes later striker Kofi Agyemang who assisted the opener, doubled our lead after picking the ball from the center circle and had it well placed to the corner of the goalpost.
Afigya Barcelona having settled down after first ten minutes, pushed for a consolation and secured a penalty following a poor defensive clearance from Imam Zidan. The host discharged it from the spot to reduce deficit to one with a 2-1 scoreline before first quarter of the epic encounter.
Despite, Mahala Football Academy possessing and detecting the pace of the game failed to command the backline and losing guide, we suffered a big blow with yet another goal. The equalizer was found before the 40th minute mark for the host.
Unfortunately, we conceded the third goal from a shot corner kick which was swinged in from our right-back line which was not dealt well having it end up in the net.
Mahala Football Academy early lead turned to melt us before break, with a scoreline of 3-2 at the Armed Forces S.H.S Park.
9 minutes into the second department of the clash, Mahala Football Academy needed to mount severe pressure to level scores. Our continous pressing found us the equalizer in the 54th minute.
Akwasi George Opoku with a splendid pass located forward Kofi Agyemang on the edge of the opponent box and with one cleaver first touch from his chest, took on his marker, to finish it by drawing parity 3-3 few minutes pass the hour mark.
Substitute Ali Hamza added alot of bite upfront, creating numerous goal scoring opportunities but lacked efficiency to burry them in the net.
Mahala Football Academy despite showing eagerness and perseverance in the last 8 minutes could not come by with the winning strike.
As it all ended, 3-3 after final whistle.
The draw means, we have accumulated 12 points and still sit second in Zone four league table.
