Coach Eric Owusu Ansah’s side begun their week 7 clash on a good foot, to dismantle Sporting Time FC on Sunday in the 2023-24 Ashanti Regional Division Two League.
Mahala Football Academy humbled Sporting Time 3-0 to cement a deserving win in Zone 3 following a brilliant first half display. Yusif Ahmed opened the scoring in the 11th minute after the visitors left-back saw his hand deal with a ball inside the 18-yard box.
The forward elected himself to convert from the spot and by so doing put the host noses infront for the first time.
The Academy lads refused to take their legs off the wheels and continued to dominate play and create awesome goal scoring chances. Four minutes later, Yusif came close to netting a second but his strike had no power to torment the shot-stopper of Sporting Time.
That pushed aside, Sporting Time failed to found antidote to the home side at the Kumasi Bantama Astro-turf as they suffered yet another goal inside their net. With just three minutes to end the second quarter of the encounter, Owusu Ansah Richard doubled Mahala Football Academy lead, ensuring they sit in front with comfort.
The attacker after picking a lose ball on the edge of Sporting Time box, strike to the far right of the goalkeeper making it 2-0 in the 27th minute. Constant and pure dominance once again smiled at Mahala Football Academy before halftime as they increased their tally to three.
Guess who else? It was Yusif Ahmed bagging his brace of the day.
Following a cross from the right side of attack, by Acheampong Richmond Sporting Time defense line failed to deal with it falling for Yussif Ahmed. Considered one of the easiest goals, Ahmed used the chest to burry it and ending first department with a huge boast.
Much was not seen from Mahala Football Academy as the second half turned to be a better half for Sporting Time. But yet again, Goalkeeper Derrick Gyamfi will always clear his lines anytime.
With Oduro Prince, Hamza Ali and Maxwell Gyamfi getting some minutes in the second half it was obviously the technical team had to manage the game. Defence pair Imam Zidan and Albert Boakye up their game to avoid conceding.
Despite, multiples of dangerous attacks Mahala Football Academy backline stood on their grounds to record an enviable 3-0 victory.
The results means Mahala Football Academy annex all points to accumulate 11 points with wins of three, two draws and two defeats in the first round.
Goalkeeper Derrick Gyamfi also picked second straight cleansheet of the campaign but three so far.
