Mahala Football Academy entertain River Plate A.C in week 16 fixture Sunday

On Sunday morning, we will welcome River Plate A.C in match-week 16 of the ongoing 2022-23 Ashanti Regional Division Two League.

Coming at the back of a well fought victory against PAC Academy, we hope to hold the sticks firm in our weekend’s clash against River Plate A.C . Mahala Football Academy returned to winning ways after showing perseverance and determination against Zone 4 leaders PAC Academy to record a win in a five-goal thriller last Sunday.

Manager Emmanuel Nkrumah’s side, opened the scores in the 17th minute against PAC Academy but suffered a 2-1 defeat before break.

But came good to revive their performance for a 2-3 triumph.

The Academy lads having won three games in four matches since start of second round, are bent on claiming the second position of Zone 4 which currently is occupied by Longford FC.

A win over River Plate A.C will mean so much to our boys, asuch will have to go all out for all maximum points.

Danger man, Justice Asamoah is expected to miss this epic encounter due to suspension. Accumulated cards denies him a place in the matchday squad.

Skipper Prince Osei is still under treatment after picking an injury and is ruled out of this game.

However, Emmanuel Attah Frimpong, Kelvin Asenso, Awudu Mohammed, Osman Salifu, Derrick Gyebi and Isaac Asumadu are all available for the clash.

With 15 matches played, we are 3rd on the standings with 25 points hoping to dethrone Longford FC for middle league qualification. Meanwhile, Mahala Football Academy has a game in hand to play.

Opponent Watch

River Plate A.C held Mahala Football Academy to a draw in the first leg played at the Armed Forces S.H.S Park in December, 2023.

Despite, taking a 2-0 goal lead in the aforementioned game we ended up sharing spoils in a 1-1 draw.

Our opponent proved to be a difficult nut to crack in the first round but have failed to inspire in many games, having amassed just 7 points to rest bottom of Zone 4.

They failed to harvest win last week in their week 15 fixture against CenturioLife, which has deepen their woes of surviving.

Kick-off for the crunchy encounter is scheduled for Sunday, April 09, 2023 at the Wesco Park exactly 9.00am.
